Capturing the Beauty of Burlesque

New York’s Fashion Week celebrated Spring 2008’s upcoming trends, and we discovered that skin was so not ‘in’.

Betsey Johnson’s collection included a high-waist black bikini with white polka dots, ruffled stockings and heels with large black bows.  Monique Lhuillier showed a dusty blue dress accentuating the bust and cascading layers.  Even Marc Jacobs used the peek-a-boo approach in his set with glimpses of bras and slips.  However the true trendsetter is Los Angeles based photographer Danielle Bedics, who has captured the most beautiful dancers and models in the world from her camera lens, including Dita Von Teese for her 2006 book ‘Burlesque and the Art of the Teese’

Bedics has immortalized the growing neo-burlesque movement, leading to its influence on everyday couture.  Making her photography debut in October 1998, she focuses on capturing the dramatic colours that emphasised the curves of Hollywood starlets and World War II pinups.

Today, she continues shooting in her White Rabbit Studio, revealing the many secrets of the top temptresses, such as bold, red lips, a slimming corset and a confident smile.  Despite the fact that Fashion Week in New York is over, this is one white rabbit you won’t have to chase for sizzling hot trends.
