Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Hussein Chalayan are just some of the British designers to represent the fashion industry in the new Skin and Bones exhibition, SKIN+BONES: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture, which opens at London’s Somerset House in April.
The exhibiton focuses on the ideas which unite fashion and architecture from 1980s to the present day. Around 200 iconic garments, 3D architectural models and film footage will be arranged in a series of themes within a new installation designed by Eva Jiricna in the house’s grounds. Boudicca, Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto are also some of the others involved, while Zaha Hadid, David Adjaye and Thomas Heatherwick are some of the architects to exhibit.
SKIN+BONES: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture runs from April 24 to August 10 2008 at Somerset House, London. Please go to www.somersethouse.org.uk
