How many times have you found yourself at a busy airport, or in the middle of a crowded square, and somehow been able to pick out the individual that hails from the same country as you do? The question of globalization and its relationship to identity is fascinating, and one that has been cleverly explored by Istanbul based photographer, Mike Mike.
Traveling to various cities across the world, he has taken 100 photos of individuals in 1 particular location, dividing these snapshots according to sex and then superimposing the differing images to create one composite whole.
For Mike, it is not “whether a person was born in that place, whether they are a citizen or whether they are simply a tourist. Everyone who is in that place represents the future potential face of that place. In this way the Face of Tomorrow is like a census. A snapshot of a place at a moment in time. The present and the future.”
