Christian Dior demonstrates the new short skirt length
Linie Vivante, A/W 1953/54
As the fashion world mourns the loss of the irreplaceable Yves Saint Laurent, comfort may be sought in the arms of his mentor, the legendary Christian Dior. Tomorrow marks the launch of an exclusive sale, organized by Yoox in collaboration with Italy’s hottest fashion blogger, Elisa Motterle, which will see a glorious collection of vintage clothing and accessories from the maison being brought to life.
Meticulously sourced from private collectors and internationally-renowned sources, such as Christie’s and vintage expert Franco Jacassi (Milan), this on-line boutique will gather an incredibly rare collection of Dior treasures that hail everywhere from Los Angeles to Paris and New York to Florence. Offering everything from museum-worthy items to one-of-a-kind yet affordable pieces, this sale will be accessible to all pockets of dames and monsieurs.
Amongst the highlights of the collection is this Haute Couture cocktail dress (right) from Dior’s S/S 1967
collection, which once belonged to Maria Felix, the legendary film star of the 1940s-1950s. The gown was purchased at an auction held by Christie’s in New York, which was dedicated to the sale of some of the actress’s personal memorabilia.
This is certainly one dream of an event which cannot be missed…
