The ‘McQuini’ – Something For the Men?

Now, I am of course a fan of the great Alexander McQueen but I have to admit, when I spotted his latest creation on the runway, I was slightly dubious as to whether it will…take off. With summer here, the fashion pages are brimming with bathing costumes and bikinis and Mr McQueen quite rightly decided that perhaps the men are feeling slightly left out? Thus, we now have the ‘McQuini’ or Mankini.

The piece of swimwear incorporates the usual swimming trunks with an added strip which fastens around the neck and runs down the torso. I would imagine that unless our men maintain the physic of a catwalk model and are in perfect proportion, the mankini may be tricky to wear. Personally I find swimming T-bar swimming trunks a bit dated and the extra add-on is slightly reminiscent of the wonderful swimsuit we saw Borat sporting.

Of course, our men, like us girls, are entitled to wear what they choose but this piece of male swimwear even when presented on the runway looked quite bizarre and almost a bit on the scary side!
