If you happen to be strolling along Alexandra Parade in Melbourne one of these evenings, make sure you pop along to the Centre of Contemporary Photography. Within their Night Projection Window, a photographic display entitled Strangers in The(ir) City: Contemporary Vietnamese Photography is currently being exhibited. Works created by a new generation of Vietnamese photographers, namely Bui Huu Phuoc and Nam Bui The Trung, their snapshots reveal how the new is affecting the old and transforming the South-East Asian landscape. Particularly enthralling is Nam Bui The Trung’s In the South of Cholon series, photographs described as ‘archeological photographs’ that ’speak of the memories of ancient Vietnam.’ An utterly captivating exhibition that is certainly not not be missed.
Until 30th August 2008. 404 George St, Fitzroy, VIC 3065, +61 39417 1549.
