Beauty Secrets: Behind The Emmy Red Carpet

So what does it take to help the stars look picture perfect on the red carpet? It takes an entire village. Ok, not really an actual village, but a team of the best of the best in hair, make-up, and styling to make them look polished to perfection.

Last weekend, I got a sneaky peek inside this world when I was invited to The Emmy Beauty Villa hosted by Patrick Melville and Equinox Fitness at the ultra posh Sunset Marquis Hotel , where celebs dropped round to get pampered and prepared for the Emmy ceremony. Villa 10 was the main headquarters and was filled with people getting blow outs, make-up touch-ups and styling tips. There were also people getting rub downs from Equinox’s massage therapists on the back deck, while the fashionistas and celebs sipped on champagne and nippled on treats from Chaya Brasserie between services. Some of the stars who made their way up to Sunset to get pampered in this suite included Nikki Hilton, Nia Long, Jessica Lowndes and Adam Gregory of “90210.”

I opted to have have two treatments done while I was at the suite- a back massage and make-up application from Napoleon Perdis. I have to admit that I’m a little squimish about getting my make-up done, because n- one ever listens to me and I come out looking like a drag queen. But not this time. TJ Felts, the Regional Creative and Education manager from Napoleon was on board. She listen to what I had to say and did a really good job at making me over. After she was done with me, I looked and felt like I was ready for the red carpet. It was no wonder that these talentive make-up artist were actually on hand at the Emmy, touching-up the stars as they made their appearances on stage. Once I was done, I wandered around the suite to look at the gowns from Aidan Mattox that were on hand for everyone to gush over and possibly wear at the big event. In the last room, Patrick Melville himself was on site, offering flawless blowouts with a FHI blow dryer as well as colour and conditioning treatments using the many tools and products that were on hand (as well as in the goody bag). This lush gift bag contained FHI Heat blow dryers and flat irons, Sebastian Professional hair products, make-up from Napoleon Perdis, Bio Lustre Polymer products and Belegenza- a new hair stlying product that is so natural it is good enough to eat. With my body soothed and my make-up done, I was ready to step out and face the cameras.
