Coffee Heaven For Your Taste Buds

Let’s face it, we all love our coffee. Whether it’s found in a fancy cappuccino or espresso cup, ice-cream, cookies or candy, we simply cannot seem to get enough of it. It is there to jumpstart our day as well as when we need to stay awake during those late-night meetings. Practically everywhere we tread, cafés and coffee shops beckon us with their sweet and tempting aromas. It is undeniable that we simply cannot live without our dose of daily coffee. It is our addiction and, in a certain sense, our saviour.

So here are two quick and easy recipes taken from Food Network, which will surely make your taste buds tingle in delight…

When we think of brownies, we often think of chocolate. However, a great substitute that is both delectable and unique is coffee. Espresso brownies are a great alternative to what you are usually used to and will have you licking your lips in satisfaction.

You will need:

  • 1 package of brownie mix (try, for example, Betty Crocker’s infamous Supreme Brownies)
  • 3 tablespoons of instant espresso
  • 1 shot of coffee liquor
  • Softened butter
  • 9 by 13 inch baking pan

Before you begin making the brownies, make sure you have prepared the brownie batter by following the directions on the package of your brownie mix. After the brownie batter has been made, add the shot of coffee liquor and the three tablespoons of instant espresso to it. Mix the batter thoroughly until all the ingredients have blended together. Next, take your baking pan, preferably a disposable one, and grease the sides of it with the softened butter. Take the brownie batter and pour it into the greased baking pan, making sure that it does not overflow. Smooth out the batter with a spatula. Bake the brownies for 22 to 25 minutes at 425 degrees F (218 degrees C). Once you have taken the brownies out of the oven, cut them into small squares or rectangular pieces. You can also top them with chocolate syrup or coffee granulates for that extra dash of flavour.

Another great recipe to try, and that will only take you a minute or two to make, is the Capputini, which is a savoury alcoholic drink with a hint of coffee.

You will need:

  • 2 shots of a coffee drink (can be any brand or your very own brewed coffee)
  • 1 shot of vodka
  • Martini shaker
  • Ice-cubes

Take your martini shaker and fill it with a couple of ice-cubes. Add the coffee and the vodka to the martini shaker. Shake the ingredients together heartily. Remember to sweeten it if you have used your very own brewed coffee. Take out a martini glass or a glass in which you normally enjoy your favorite alcoholic drink and strain the concoction into it. Top the drink with a bit of whipped cream for a pungent sweetness and lose yourself in coffee heaven.
