The glittery dust has finally settled and Paris Fashion Week has ended, marking the end of the main global fashion circuit that started in New York early last month.
Amongst the numerous trends that were set and continued, transparencies reigned supreme, spotted everywhere from Fendi and Armand Basi to Jil Sander and Alexander McQueen. A trend that was also reflected in next season’s makeup, which emerged with barely-there looks and subdued yet radiant palettes. In M.A.C.’s beauty trousse at the Paris shows, one product was in each and every artist’s hands–the brand new Prep and Prime Powder. Used everywhere from McQueen to Lagerfeld, this powder is imperceptible in texture yet reduces sheen without covering up the skin’s natural radiance. Set to become the product of next Spring 2009, make sure you pick yours as soon as it hits shelves. Parisian makeup was also all about enhancing beauty rather than creating a specific look. At Ungaro, there was a ‘young couture take on healthy barefaced chic’, whilst ChloĆ© was ‘characteristically nothing-y’. In other words, it was all about nature worked to the max.
A look which the fabulous Heidi Klum (right) has already perfected and sports impeccably well. Spotted last night as she emerged from Los Angeles’ Madeo restaurant on Beverly Boulevard, she demonstrated how she is always two steps ahead of emerging trends. Looking gorgeous in her black ensemble, sheer silk blouse and groomed manicure, Miss Klum’s simple yet polished look is the perfect example of how less is most definitely more. Look and learn.
