The word’s out: it’s all about cowboys.
The history of these cattle tending boys can be traced back to ancient history, and today, they continue to inspire contemporary society with their ruggedly unique style. In fact, one only needs to cast a glance at
the runways’ latest offerings to realize that these boys have never really fallen out of fashion. Riccardo Tisci’s last trip to South America inspired him to create a fabulous pair of golden cowboy boots for Givenchy’s Resort 2009 collection (right) that will look good paired with practically everything. Not to mention the hot cowboy hats with upturned brims which graced Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring/Summer 09 men’s show (above)–confirming that the cowboy hat will continue to be an essential accessory for next summer (beautiful boy included, of course).
It goes without saying that an article on cowboys wouldn’t be complete without the words ‘John Wayne’ and ‘Brokeback
Mountain’, both of which drew great inspiration from, and shaped the culture of cowboys. And just as I was reading through my usual spate of online papers, what should I find but the ever-gorgeous Gisele Bündchen (left) on the set of the upcoming music video of the Black Cowboys (yes indeed, yet more cowboys). Currently in Los Angeles, the Brazilian beauty and her glorious legs were snapped along Melrose Avenue as she was being filmed for the band’s latest song, ‘Come On’. What more can I say–the (cow)boys are most definitely back in town.
