See, I almost missed Samora’s S/S 09 fashion show on Friday because I couldn’t decide whether to check out The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show instead. But I’m glad that I managed to attend, because Samora Olayaw’s designs were utterly magnifique.
Using Paris as her inspiration and incorporating it into her show through the Eiffel Tower backdrop and Serge Gainsbourg-inspired music, the Samora collection was a romantic journey back to Paris to which I was happy to tag along. After all, there’s nothing like Paris in the Springtime (well, the imagination works wonders…)
I watched beautiful flirty prints, chiffon candy-coloured tiered dresses, and neon ruffled knit wraps parade down the runway. The models oozed Parisian sophistication with their large, dark, Chanel-inspired sunglasses and their hair pulled back into tight chignons. Most of the outfits were paired with leather gloves in pink and black that added a glamorous touch of je ne sais quoi. The pièce de résistance of this collection had to be the classic tailored separates: black and white ensembles featuring high-waisted skirts and shorts. I also fell in love with the white ruffled shirt and the frilly pink dress that sashayed down the runway, which was utterly chic. The show closed with a fuchsia organza grown embellished with a floral embroidered hem that put me in the move for love. Simply put, j’adore Samora.
