Parfumeur Alexis Dadier Gets Fancy for Jessica Simpson

It seems that every celebrity has a fragrance, and pop singer Jessica Simpson is no exception. Admittedly, this trend is starting to become nothing short of boring, yet what caught our attention with Simpson’s Fancy fragrance was the man behind it: Alexis Dadier. The 28-year-old Simpson, who has launched everything from edible cosmetics to polo pumps, wanted to create a fragrance that would capture her true character, and so engaged Parisian parfumeur Monsieur Dadier. In August, her dreams of designing an alluring, feminine scent came true when Fancy officially debuted.

‘With Fancy, I wanted to create a pretty fragrance, one that I could be just as comfortable wearing on the red carpet or everyday with my favourite jeans,’ says Simpson. ‘This is a special fragrance: personal, whimsical, playful, and romantic. To me, Fancy is just that: fancy.’ With the help of Dadier, the duo created a perfume with a blush champagne hue captured inside a vanity bottle adorned with blooming gardenias and rose-gold butterflies. However, it’s the remarkable floral aroma that captures the nose of doubtful shoppers who may be hesitant of adding yet another celebrity-endorsed fragrance to their trousse.

Dadier, who has created fragrances for everyone from Thierry Mugler to L’Occitane, took some time to chat with Chic Today and share his experience in creating this sensual scent.

For those who’ve never smelled Fancy before, how would you describe it?
I would describe Fancy as luminous and dewy floral, romantic and flirtatious. It opens with the radiance of sparkling pear and juicy apricot nectar wrapped with the glow of red fruits. Heart notes feature gardenia laced with the delicacy of night blooming jasmine. Toasted almond and caramel notes provide a playful element, while sandalwood and amber crystals unite with the warmth of vanilla cream in the dry down.

As a collaborator, what is Jessica Simpson like?
She’s a very kind and charming person. She knows exactly what she wants. That’s why we worked in a very constructive way, to create a fragrance that perfectly fits her personality.
