Less-Than-Common Gift Ideas

Whether we like it or not, we’re going to have to start thinking of buying gifts for the upcoming festivities. The words ‘Christmas shopping’ are certain to send shivers down many a spine, as thoughts of mad dashes across town, neverending queues at tills and the bemusing question ‘What should I get him/her’ spring to mind. So we’ve gone out and done some of the hard work for you, and picked up three less-than-common gifts that are sure to be loved by whoever receives them.

Japanese electronics brand Pioneer has recently launched in the UK a limited edition version of its KURO television (left), which has been flying off shelves like warm muffins. Kuro means ‘black’ in Japanese, and indeed, the intensity of colour produced by this flat screen TV is astounding. Available in two colours–white and beige–this television not only features an integrated analogue tuner, but also a digital terrestrial (DVB-T) tuner. Grab yours quick before they sell out.

If you’re looking for something truly different, we suggest you buy a gift certificate of a spiritual sort. LA-based Shannon Swallow is an incredible energy healer, and offers a range of readings and healings that shall help you reconnect with your inner self. In this increasingly artificial, hectic and consumerism-driven society, stepping back and taking a moment to regenerate will certainly do everyone a world of good.

Finally, if you’re looking for a little trinket fit for a princess, pick up La Fille du Consul’s gloriously dinky peapod pin (above). Delphine Roche Montgrand creates showstopping jewellery sculptures by hand using polymer clay, and her designs are inspired by nature and scrumptious delicaces. No two pieces are alike, and this delightful brooch is sure to have any damsel squealing in delight.
