‘Twilight’ Stirs Worldwide Frenzy

Picture a place of unexpected romance and hidden danger set in the darkness of the night that leaves you breathless. A place where true love, between a vampire and a human, unfolds into a twisted reality rather than a fairytale. This is the world of Twilight.

This is an action-packed vampire movie intertwined with romance, which has recently been released by Summit Entertainment. Based on the first book of the Twilight saga written by Stephanie Meyer, the movie tells the story of the Cullens vampire family and Bella, a teenage girl who falls in love with Edward Cullen.

Centered on the dangerous relationship between Edward and Bella, the movie takes us on a journey through the mystifying life of the golden-eyed Cullens who, unlike other vampires, feed solely on animal blood. However for Edward, resisting the scent of Isabella’s blood is an overwhelming internal struggle that he constantly has to fight, although his biggest battle comes to life when he is forced to protect Bella from one of his own.

Robert Pattinson, who plays the character of Edward, captures the intensity and passion with which Edward is guided to protect Isabella, played by Kirsten Stewart. Stewart embraces Bella’s character and evokes compelling emotions of teenage love that transform her from a novice actor into a true star. Pattinson and Stewart have a powerful on-screen chemistry that brings to life the fervour of Edward and Bella’s romance.

The rest of the cast is as impressive as Pattinson and Stewart, among which is Nikki Reed from the movie Thirteen, and Cam Gigandet, known best for his role in the OC series. With each actor striving to interpret and capture their character while staying true to the Twilight storyline, the movie surpasses the expectations of even the harshest of critics.

Although a small number of scenes stray from the original book, the overall tone and storyline reflect Meyer’s vision of a star-crossed teenage love story, which is strangely reminiscent of that of Romeo and Juliet. Filled with witty dialogues, humour and heartfelt scenes, this is a movie that will keep audiences rooted to their seats until the final scene.

With a sequel already in the works, one can be sure that the vampire saga will have the world bitten into a state of frenzy as fans await the next chapter of this gripping story.
