Ultra Glam Holiday Hair with Frédéric Fekkai

Gwyneth PaltrowFrédéric Fekkai is famously known as the celebrity stylist to the stars, and if you take a glance at his list of clients, you’ll understand why. Pénelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, and Rénee Zelleweger all make sure to contact the French hairdresser whenever they need a head-turning do for a glamorous photoshoot or a star-studded event. Martha Stewart reportedly flew Fekkai across America to do her hair as soon as she was released from prison in 2005. He has even perfected the manes of former first lady Hillary Clinton and the late John F. Kennedy Jr. With a salon in New York City servicing a reported 400 customers a day, everyone goes to Fekkai for upcoming hair trends.

Just in time for the holidays, Fabrice Gili, Creative Director of the Frédéric Fekkai salon in Soho, shows us a few easy ways to make the hot new celebrity hair looks our own this season. ‘We are seeing a new take on classic styles,’ explains Gili, ‘Women want an effortless, yet sexy look that will take them from day to night, dinner to dancing.’ With the help of Fekkai’s ultimate party styling collection, you’ll look like you’re walking down the red carpet rather than mingling with friends at a party.

Modernized Bob Recently seen on Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow (top left), Gili recommends starting off with Fekkai Anti Frizz Silkening Crème to create a sleek, flawless look. Saturate the roots and then blow dry hair upside down for fullness. Finally, wrap your hair around a 1″ curling iron, making sure to leave the ends out to design a relaxed curl. To soften this look, you can add a slight wave and relax curls with Fekkai Ultra Light Finishing Crème.

Sexy Waves

Supermodels like Heidi Klum and Gisele Bündchen have made this style popular again because it’s easy to do and can make one look fabulous with little effort. For tousled waves, simply wet your hair and then blow dry. You may use a 2.5″ iron by wrapping sections of your hair around it or use a round brush to finish drying. Finally, set hair by misting Fekkai Coiff Fini Sheer Hold Hairspray all over. If you have bangs, blow dry or straighten them, then tease for volume at the top of your head to enhance richness.

French Twist

Charlize Theron and Sophia Bush have both brought back this simple, yet elegant updo that can make anyone look and feel classy, whatever the occasion. To achieve this style, blow dry your hair while you brush. Then, twist the hair back and pin as you go. Gili suggests using Fekkai Coiff Controle Ironless Straightening Balm to get that tight, pulled back feel. Choose to add a little extra volume to make the look more rock ‘n’ roll or tight and sleek for added glamour.

Festive Locks

If you’re too busy finishing off your Christmas gift shopping, you can create gorgeous tresses at home by using one of Fekkai’s beloved secrets for a radiant mane. To give your hair that ultimate holiday feel, use Fekkai’s Spray on Hair Crystals in Champagne, Copper, or Bronze for extra sparkle!
