Fashion is in the air mon cherie! Though you may feel hopelessly out of the loop with what’s haute, coolness can be attained in the flutter of an eyelash. Touch up on the history of fashion inspiration (never a bad conversation starter in Paris), and you will be among the well informed. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is currently displaying Paris’ first Sonia Rykiel retrospective in the fashion house’s forty years, revealing over 220 of the couturière’s garments from 1968 onwards. Just like the talented designer (above), you will understand what it’s like to be crazy with style. Until April 19.

Once in a while, on a particularly pleasant day or after an amusing exchange of dry humour, a Brit may experience what I like to refer to as a burst of affectionate patriotism. A couple of boasty Brits and enamoured Anglophiles decided to capitalize on this feeling and create a book choc full of all the things that make jolly ol’ England so unique. Brimming with poems, photos and tales, Icons of England is perfect to leave on the coffee table to peruse with tea on the not-so-pleasant days, for it works wonders to rekindle that homeland love.

Oh, to be young again and frolic in the park without a care in the world! How I do miss flying high on those swings. It is hard now to even remember all the fun times. Care to jog your memory? Well this month, The Puffin Room will help. With twenty artists participating in the aptly named The Playground exhibition, you will be able to recall the good old days and be amused in a way that only an adult can. However, all the reminiscing might leave you with a childlike spring in your step – and that certainly won’t be such a bad thing. Until February 22.
