Having managed to bag a front row seat at Betty Jackson’s show, I was astounded by the host of high profile figures that were decorating the premium seats, despite the insanely early hour. English comedians Dawn French and Victoria Wood joined model Erin O’Connor, TV presenter Lorraine Kelly and the beautiful Leah Wood, whilst Betty Jackson’s gorgeous son (actor/model and all round beauty) Oliver Jackson-Cohen was also spotted.
The show began with a host of beautiful models clad in icy coloured, felted wool. Colours ranged from cool blue, off white and light grey, while coats were oversized, draped and panelled. From the soft, loose pleats to the ruche panels, it was clear that every detail down to the last button hole had been carefully thought out.
Skirts flitted between high waisted varieties and fluted A-lines, while trousers were calf length, with delicate, front pleats. As with last season, peplums were still du jour, with silk, floral blouses and high waisted skirts being treated to a single or double tier.
Aside from the felted wool, there was plenty of silk, printed in dainty florals that exuded a strong forties feel, a vibe that was strengthened by the thigh high, ribbed socks and t-bar shoes. Velvet also made a brief appearance, this time in a high shine, coffee shade that was extremely refined.
The entire collection was an innovative display of creative pattern-cutting that is both creative yet highly wearable.
