In a recession, cut costs instead of calories. Ward off the high price of your morning Starbucks and resulting caffeine jitters with the introduction of low-cost breakfast pairings. Whether Starbucks is combating McDonald’s McCafé coffees or the dipping economy, we are happy to comply at only $3.95 a pop!
Starbucks began serving the breakfast value meals on March 3 to positive reviews. Panini sandwiches, yoghurt with seeds, honey and granola, even a Starbucks BLT; the liquid diet has retired from the coffeehouse.
Also beginning this March, ground Starbucks coffee will be available at Monoprix, a French supermarket chain. With only 48 cafés in France, Starbucks is hoping to make an impression on the French.
Additionally, Starbucks is introducing Via, an instant coffee. Having gone public on March 3 in Seattle and Chicago, Via is due to hit London on March 25.
Despite a massive marketing campaign and plans to go national in the States, Via is falling short of sterling reviews. Critics have stated that the instant Starbucks is too bitter, does not dissolve completely, and tastes stale.
It may not be the most stellar espresso but if you’re willing to give it a shot, request for a free sample.
