Breast Cancer Awareness Month may be celebrated every October, but that doesn’t mean that we should diminish our awareness of this serious illness for the remaining 11 months of the year. Thankfully, numerous celebrities across the world work tirelessly and incessantly to ensure breast cancer doesn’t slip off women’s radar, a disease which unfortunately is one of the most common in the world.
Fashion Targets Breast Cancer–the leading campaign of Breakthrough Breast Cancer–has recently teamed up with 10 well-known personalities, including Jade Jagger , June Sarpong, and Duncan James, and featured their famous faces in a series of posters which will be placed across the UK from today. These same celebrities have also strutted the digital catwalk of Millionmodelcatwalk.com–a site which allows users to upload their own image and ‘dress’ it with threads from the latest Fashion Target Breast Cancer range–all in the hopes of encouraging women of all ages to keep up-to-date with breast cancer developments and help raise £1 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
As June Sarpong remarks, ‘Breast cancer is the ultimate equaliser. It affects everyone, irrespective of colour, creed or background. Therefore it’s something we all need to come together to fight by supporting Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.’
Another organisation which has sought the collaboration of celebrities in its fight against breast cancer is Breast Cancer Campaign, which is currently hosting an auction of Kylie Minogue’s customised Filofax. Previous Filofax’s auctioned off have included that customised by Lily Allen, helping Breast Cancer Campaign raise reach its £500,000 fundraising target.
So women, remember that when it comes to breast cancer, it should be October every month of the year.
