Waking up on the right side of the bed is easy when you’re in a tropical paradise far from the madding crowd. With ocean breezes beckoning you to come out to play, the remote Biras Creek Resort in Virgin Gorda is utterly sublime. Accessible solely by helicopter or boat, the likes of Diane Sawyer, Michael Douglas, Warren Beatty and Catherine Zeta-Jones have all been spotted here basking in the sunshine and indulging in the resort’s lush, home-made ice-cream.

As one of the world’s top luxury destinations, everything revolves around Biras Creek’s white sandy beach and crystalline waters. Tucked between three distinct bodies of water—the North Sound, the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea—Biras Creek is a short yacht ride away from Richard Branson’s private Necker Island. Whilst his little island escape rents for $350,000 per week, Biras Creek offers the same exclusive experience for a fraction of the cost.

This 140-acre property is filled with a vast variety of flora and fauna, whilst a cacophony of aromas—from the sweet scents of Frangipani to the astringent smell of the Turpentine trees—permeate the air. Guests may spot a few friendly iguanas basking in the midday sun, whilst birdlovers will delight in admiring the Antillean Crested hummingbirds, herons, egrets, and the unique Black-necked Stilts with their elongated pink legs. Immersed in nature, to visit this haven is akin to becoming one with nature as you escape the stress of everyday life and absorb the peace and tranquility.

The resort spa is the best place to schedule a visit for a relaxing massage or a beauty treatment, offering the perfect way to end a packed day of boating, scuba diving and water activities.

The closest town is on the island of Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, and is easily accessible by boat. An excursion to Baths is a must, with its natural rock formations being one of the best-kept secrets of the natural world.

A new upscale residential development is under way and soon, this delicious resort will be available for freehold home ownership. Catering to aficionados of discreetness and yachting, developer David Johnson of Victor International is committed to providing a new standard of excellence. This includes eco-sensitive practices, ensuring the local community benefits from the expansion of the resort, and making the most out of quality living for generations to come.

So pack your bags, slip on your Borsalino hat and prepare to fall in love with a fragment of Caribbean paradise.

We are leaving for Biras Creek in two weeks for our honeymoon. I just read some more recent reviews and, though most still rave about the resort, there are a few concerns about the construction that has started for the residential homes. Should I be concerned?

    HI Jen
Don’t worry about the construction-the residential part is far away from the resort (have to drive about 3/4 mile). The only caveat is that it’s HOT! So be careful of the sun/heat/etc. Must visit the natural rock formations and check out the Salton Sea. Have a wonderful honeymoon.

Whoops, I didn’t mean the Salton Sea, I meant the BATHS! Also the new resort construction is only reachable by BOAT! Spend lots of time in the water-so clear and beautiful turquois. IT will be fabulous!

Do whatever boating/snorkeling they are offering. Visit Little Dix Bay if you can-nice resort. Spend most of your time in nature…..feed the iguanas a hibiscus flower. Relax!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Biras Creek about 4 1/2 years ago. We had the time of our life! It was the most amazing experience– the food was outstanding, the staff was very friendly- always aiming to please, and it was one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. Truly relaxing! We loved the early breakfasts overlooking the water, during the week they would sometimes cook lunches down on their beach area– best fish and barbecue!!! We also loved using their Boston Whalers and other water equipment at the beach. It was fun to hike around as well. Truly a romantic and WONDERFUL vacation spot. We hope to go back for our 10 year anniversary!!! (The Baths WAS a fun trip!)
