If an infectious samba rhythm has taken over your feet, while your taste buds crave the perfectly seasoned meats of your local Churrascaria and seeing girls on city streets wearing tiny bikinis doesn’t seem all that odd, then you must be getting ready for the annual Brazilian film exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York! Featuring 2 world premieres, 19 full-length features and 3 shorts, the festival also boasts personal appearances by nearly every director of every film, at their first showing.
Centered around an impressive retrospective of master documentary filmmaker Eduardo Coutinho, the exhibit will also premiere his film ‘Moscou’ and ‘Beyond Ipanema: Brazilian Waves in Global Music’, a documentary by Guto Barra and Béco Dranoff. There will be live Brazilian music performances in MoMA’s Sculpture Garden every Thursday in July.
The exhibit runs from July 16th to August 3rd and promises to add just the right amount of spice to our already balmy NYC.
