Metallics and Sequins

This year’s hottest look is donning shiny sequins to match the soaring temperatures. From coppery-gold mini-dresses to starlight-silver halters, the bling does the talking all the way from Spring to Fall 2009.

We first fell in lust with Balmain’s asymmetrical dress for Spring, while Stella McCartney’s silversmith mini and Alexander Wang black armour dress rocked the Fall runways.

But how can you incorporate this bold look without looking like Cher in the eighties? With metallics, less is always more, so choose a single item that speaks volumes and keep everything else to a matte minimum. Those with warm colouring should opt for gold shades, while those with cool colouring should go with a platinum palate. Wide-hipped sisters should stick to sequined tops rather than bottoms, while wide-shouldered señoritas sparkle in glittery mini-skirts.

Metallics may have been all the rage in the past, but they’re back with a bang for Fall 2009! Unleash the disco diva and add some sparkle to your step with a sequinned number.
