The Quest for Balance

Balance has become a keyword of our everyday. Whether it is our emotional, home-work, or nutritional balance, we all ultimately strive to create an equilibrated lifestyle.

Yet why is it that many are hanging on threads of stress, bound tightly by deadlines and restrictions? Why is it so difficult to dedicate time to oneself without feeling an overwhelming sense of guilt?

A root cause of such imbalance, which is often overlooked, is the interaction between positive and negative energy and the effect it has on our life.

Much of the media teaches us to report negatively, and we are subconsciously prone to copying this technique when relating with others. Many thrive on chewing over bad news, gossip and depressing information. “I don’t feel well.” “I don’t like my job.” “My husband/partner/daughter is driving me nuts.” “We are struggling for money.” These are oft heard sentences which fill many a conversation between friends, family and colleagues.

The question “How are you?” is interpreted as giving one carte blanche to outpour upsets, frustrations, and worries. In doing so, however, we don’t realise that much negative energy is released, burdening the listener with distress.

To improve your personal inner balance, try to discuss only positive news and reject any negative news entering your consciousness. There are polite ways of turning a conversation towards a lighter subjects, but if those fail, explain that you are experimenting by surrounding yourself with only positive information. Ask people to help you by telling you something wonderful and inspiring.

When you leave a conversation behind, leave your listeners with a positive feeling. Express to others what you are grateful for, were touched by, or which moved your world. Over time, you will notice the difference in your wellbeing and of those around you.

While it is essential to walk in the sunshine as well as in the shadows of friendship, Lizzi makes a strong argument for creating positive boundaries around our relationships, to be mindful of leaving a positive feeling behind you, to create value not harm in our interactions with others. Thank you for the reminder!

This is a beautiful well written uplifting artical that really resinates with me. The world thunders along at such a fast pace, we put so many demands on ourself and so many people get sucked in by life, that they forget to connect with themselves and take time to enjoy positive energy and bathe themsevels in pure thought to calm to improve their inner balance thus improving their world and life. If only the world would collectivly have a positive day where only positive things were said and the only deeds done were done for love – the world would rock.
