Leave a Legacy

First impressions are important and the simple truth is whether or not we admit it, we judge books by their covers. The manner in which we carry ourselves and the way we interact are factors that create and leave a lasting legacy.

Walking along a street, you are likely to avoid people with shoulders hunched and heads down, while naturally gravitating towards those who appear less threatening. Conduct an experiment and smile or make eye contact with people walking by. The reactions spurred by your friendly gestures will undoubtedly have a mutually uplifting effect.

Consider this carefully – the Law of Attraction states like attracts like. If you give out positive and abundant energy, then positive and abundant energy will come flowing back to you. Perhaps you know someone who constantly offloads their problems onto you and seldom has time to listen. Do you feel sombre and drained of energy each time you meet that person? If the answer is yes, then it’s time to make a conscious effort and shift your energy in a positive direction.

Surround yourself with positivity and watch it multiply. Keeping discussions upbeat creates a ripple effect onto those around you. Further inspiring information on this topic is contained in Jack Canfield’s book, Chicken Soup for The Soul, which illustrates how, by changing the way we communicate with others – no matter how low we feel at core level – we can dramatically influence our surroundings positively. The bottom line? Positive communication creates harmony.

Make sure your legacy represents where you’re coming from and where you’d like to go. As life coach Carole Ann Rice would say, “Leave a room like a beautiful fragrance drifting from the fibres of a chiffon scarf.”

Legacy is such a powerful word and one that I am very inspired by Lizzi. My legacy is left thorugh my children and the values they develop and the things they contribute in the future and though their children. But I have my own legacy, and that is to leave the world a friendlier, more connected place. That is what drives my business energy and is the basis of my day, each day. Thank you, a great article Lizzi.

What an inspiring piece of writing, so much so Lizzy I had to go and search you other pieces by you! Thank you so much! We all get bogged down in our everyday minutiae that we rarely think on how we leave others as we rush past in the torrent that life is.

I know I am guilty of easily wrapping myself up in my own importance (so called), without taking time out to realise that every moment I communicate, on the phone, in an email or in person just how I effect those I communicate with.

The way we chose to communicate is so powerful and we should take time each of us to pause and think just what good we can do, instead of stumbling along as we so often do.

Thank you for your gentle yet inspiring reminder Lizzi!

They say the only thing you can take with you is your Evolution (or Karmic Balance Sheet) and the only thing you can leave behind is your Art.

As Lizzi says, if you are coming from a place of pure and good intention, the Art that comes through you will be guaranteed to be high quality

And the Art does not have to be physical like music, painting or literature – it can also be your state of Being and Doing and your grace … or nowadays your blog or Tweet Stream ;-)

… keep the wisdom flowing Lizzi
