Sonia Rykiel Unveils H&M Collection

On Tuesday night, Paris played host to a saucily extravagant soirée to celebrate the unveiling of Sonia Rykiel’s lingerie line designed exclusively for H&M.

Kate Bosworth, Jean Paul Gaultier, Eva Herzigova and Ellen von Unwerth joined over 2,000 guests at the Grand Palais which had been transformed into a Parisian fantasy land complete with oversized multicoloured balloons and an enchanted forest made from giant cardboard trees.

The 67-item collection will launch in 1,500 H&M stores worldwide on December 5, as well as in several Sonia Rykiel boutiques. The French designer has also created a knitwear collection for women and girls, which will hit the shelves of over 200 H&M stores on February 20, 2010.

This latest collaboration marks a significant milestone in Rykiel’s career, demonstrating that the democratization of fashion is a trend which, if used in combination with style and taste, can prove to be innovative.

As fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier explains, ‘Sonia Rykiel is like a revolution in fashion. She’s super-clever and super-talented and I have big, big admiration for her.’
