Attraction can hit us like a punch in the nose. It could be your server in a restaurant, colleague at work or jazz instructor. It can leave you flustered, blushing, lost for words and unable to focus. If only the physical symptoms were always that obvious. Attraction can turn a sane person mad, causing them to over analyse text messages, misinterpret body language and receive mixed signals or vibes. However, if you listen carefully, you can gain valuable insight into a person’s thoughts and emotions.
Have you ever noticed how some people seem to have their own theme song? These are similar to the soundtracks for television shows, ranging from an upbeat tempo for a comedy to a classical melody for a documentary. If you listen closely, people have different soundtracks and give off vibrations accordingly. For instance, we can sense if a work colleague is in a bad mood before we see their face because of the heavy ‘vibe’ they give off.
When someone finds us attractive, they send their own theme tune or vibe running through us. Call it gut instinct or inner knowing, but we feel the soundtrack without having to hear the words. Tune in by placing one hand on your heart while looking at that person and saying these words in your mind: “Do you find me attractive?” You will either feel joyous and light or heavy and sad. As far as possible, don’t analyse the feeling as wishful thinking and insecurity bogs down the brain.
Next time you receive mixed signals, stop and hear the music. Listening to your soundtrack and that of others will help you make intelligent intuitive judgments and gauge how others feel about you.
