Sheer Style

Spring 2010 kicked off with a veritable style bang as sheer fabrics stole the spotlight. Hermès, Collette Dinnigan and Valentino dared to bare, while Giambattista Valli inspired with luxe variations.

To own this look, opt for sheer fabrics in variations of your natural skin tone. If you want to make a stronger style statement, Milly’s bead-embellished cocktail top is a sure winner. For a more casual chic look, a  T-shirt dress from Paul and Joe Sister will take you from day to night. Alternatively, add movement and texture with a pastel pink Vanessa Bruno wrap blouse. If you’re unsure how to work whimsical layers, take a cue from the ever-edgy Kate Moss, who paired a sheer Dior gown with a tailored blazer at the 2010 British Fashion Awards. For futher inspiration, Julianne Moore and Christina Ricci both worked the layered look to sheer perfection.

Too much information is never a good thing, so remember to pair sheer tops with solid separates.  Spring 2010 is all about the sheer pleasures in life!
