Candylicious Colours

Candylicious colours rule Spring 2010 as Burberry Prorsum, Michael Kors and Luella tempt us with pastel palettes.

Pastels in floaty fabrics will ensure you look elegant without falling into candy induced coma. Add a dash of drama and offset dark hair and fair skin with deep accessories. Take a cue from Leighton Meester and pair a lilac Rachel Gilbert dress with grey Rupert Sanderson pumps. If there’s low contrast between your hair and skin colours, anchor the look by wearing stronger make-up and statement accessories.

Although pastels work best for those with cool skin tones and opacity (even, less translucent complexions), those with warm complexions can use bridging accessories to link the two palettes. A gold-plated Juicy Couture necklace with cubic zirconia incorporates warm and cool colours, turning this trend to your advantage.

To taste this trend in small doses, try peppering your look with candy-coloured accessories such as powder blue Louboutins or a peach Temperley hobo. This season is all about sugar, spice and everything nice!
