Pure White

White is a timeless classic, infusing elegance into every wardrobe. Stella McCartney and Osman showed off the basic hue for Spring and Resort 2010, while Max Azria raised temperatures with icy-hot style at Hervé Léger.

This cool colour complements skin with blue, violet or pink undertones. With a multitude of shades, choosing the right one need not be a daunting task. Take a cue from the whites of your eyes – this is the most flattering hue for you.

Those with a slight blue tinge in their eyes will shine in crisp whites like Balmain’s bow-embellished silk blouse, which flatters cooler skin tones.  Conversely, a peach tinge calls for an off-white ensemble like a Diane von Furstenberg blouse or Temperley tunic, which will dazzle on honey-toned beauties like Eva Longoria-Parker. Just avoid highlighting unhealthy, yellowish tones. Deep-skinned beauties like Halle Berry know that colour contrasts make a show-stopping impact.

This Spring, look to the runways and sparkle in pure white.
